I lost WiFi capabilities after a recent Ubuntu 16.04 kernel update.
My network card is BCM43142 802.11b/g/n and I was using
Broadcom 802.11 Linux STA sireless driver source from
bcmwl-kernel-source (proprietary)
I tried selecting "Do not use this device" in the Software Updater under "Additional Drivers" and restarted but that did not work.
I also tried downloading and installing the 18.04 binaries with..
sudo dpkg -i bcmwl-kernel-source_6.30.223.271+bdcom-0ubuntu4_amd64.deb
...and after a restart it didn't work.
