Por la boca vive el pez es el cuarto álbum de la banda Fito & Fitipaldis, grabado en los estudios Music Lan (Gerona) y producido por Joe Blaney. Lo lanzaron al mercado en 2006 y en menos de dos semanas ya habían vendido más de 100.000 copias. A mediados de mayo de 2007, tras 34 semanas de estar en la lista de los 50 discos más vendidos de España, la cifra de ventas ya había superado las 240.000. En 2008 fue certificado cuádruple platino por más de 320.000 copias.


Se incluye una versión de Deltoya, tema de Extremoduro, en clave de rock & roll, suponiendo una versión muy distinta a la original.


En 2001, Fito colaboró con el proyecto Extrechinato y Tú, aportando al álbum Poesía básica, además de su voz y su guitarra en la mayoría de los temas, dos composiciones propias: Rojitas (que ya regrabó dándole su toque personal para su primer disco, A puerta cerrada) y Abrazado a la tristeza. En Poesía básica, estas dos composiciones de Fito iban unidas a los versos del poeta Manolo Chinato, además de que, musicalmente, Robe, Uoho y Cantera de Extremoduro le daban un tono más roquero que el que Fito les ha dado en sus versiones con los Fitipaldis. Es este segundo tema el que Fito reedita aquí, grabándolo de nuevo con la formación actual de los Fitipaldis, y convirtiéndolo casi en un mano a mano con Carlos Raya, su actual guitarrista.
