My LEFT SHIFT key and a few other keys (T, BACKSPACE) are recently exhibiting some flaky behavior. For example, I seem to have to hold the LEFT SHIFT down for a moment before it "takes." Via dconf Editor I have ensured that the slow-keys option is disabled, and have set its delay for when it is enabled to 1ms. Still my problem persists. The other keys are similarly slow to respond.
Are there other settings which would enable slow-keys-like behavior which I should mind to get responsive keys?

Have you turned off the animations in the settings menu ? Gnome has still some patches needed at this point. As you turn them off, turn of as well the extentions options in the other window in settings. In case you haven't install Gnome Tweak Tool .
