A man put xubuntu 17.04 on my laptop but didn't tell me that it was short life and now I have problems of the famous login loop. It happened a month ago but I managed to get back in through the recovery menu by cleaning and repairing things, Im not good with computers but it worked however this time it hasn't worked. I here anyone out there that can help me. All I can find are terminal commands for other ubuntus that dont work.
Thanks

Ubuntu 17.04 is off-topic due to it's EOL status. Unless you've made changes to configuration, the most likely cause in my opinion will be you've insufficient space in your $HOME (your user directory) which is needed for temporary work files. I would suggest logging (using terminal, it doesn't need work space to run) anddf -hl(disk free; human & local output) , I suspect low space in your /home (or / if you have no /home partition) meaning the needed gui-work-files can't be created causing login failure & login-loop. Solution is to remove files in your user directory.

Please upgrade to a supported release of Ubuntu, and if you don't want to release-upgrade every 7-9 months, use only LTS or long-term-support releases You should have received options to upgrade to 17.10 (you possibly dismissed), but as it's now also EOL it's too late now. A re-install with a supported release (eg. Xubuntu 18.04 LTS) would be my suggestion. You can re-install using something else, and select NOT to format your partitions allowing a pretty quick upgrade (but please backup, mistakes can happen, esp. having format check-box clicked, or problems occur. Backups are worth it)
