I'm trying to setup a server runnig disco and installed libnss-ldap. During this I lost contact with the server.

After logging in locally I found out that the server can ping the GW and it can ping Google's DNS server. But it doesn't seem to be able to ping any other computer on the LAN (and I can't ping the server from another computer on the LAN either).

What can I do to troubleshoot this?

Bear in mind that I can't simply cut'n'paste from the server, so please if you want to know the output from program X please also tell why you think that would be useful information.

The route table looks something like:

Destination Gateway Genmask Flags Metric Ref Use Iface
default _gateway 0.0.0.0 UG 100 0 0 eno0
192.168.1.0 0.0.0.0 255.255.255.255 U 0 0 0 vlan.www
...
_gateway 0.0.0.0.0 255.255.255.255 UH 100 0 0 eno0

There are aliases (vlan.*) for eno0, the ellipsis is that all alliases including eno0 have similar line in the route table.

  • @user68186 Yes I know that. Do you suspect that it's a bug in disco? Well the reason I'm going for disco is because I've got this expiry mail from letsencrypt (which I can't find rigt now, grmbl) that says that I should install a newer version (that's only in disco). Otherwise I would have gone for bionic (or use existing installation)

  • I don't know. Bugs and betas are off-topic here. We can't try to troubleshoot a problem only to find it to be a bug in a beta version.

  • Your sub-net mask needs to be bigger than just one IP address (or so I think). Try 255.255.255.0 (or whatever is correct for your LAN).
