Ok so, I have a pesky little device right now that doesn't want me messing with the OS. It came with Ubuntu but I want to try different flavors, but here's the problem
I put the ISO of the new OS on my USB stick using Rufus on my Windows PC, and I plug it into the device running Ubuntu. I then go to the BIOS to tell it to boot from the USB stick, but that drive isn't shown. There's two options, one to run Ubuntu normally, and the other to basically factory reset the thing. When I factory reset, it doesn't give me the option to install to another drive or anything, it just puts everything back to how it shipped. Looking at the disk manager tool thingy, that backup is another partition of the internal storage.
I don't want to do anything to that partition, because if I mess up the OS (which I've now done several times lol) then that factory reset is my only fall back.
So how can I set up the drive to be read by the system when it boots up as a boot option? I know the boot drive works because I can plug it into other computers and it'll go smooth as butter, but this one doesn't seem like it wants to cooperate.
Well, I figure this is probably 600000x more likely solvable on a Linux than it would be a Windows or anything else, so it's worth a shot!
Oh also, I'm unable to remove the internal storage to mess with it using another computer. It's soldered to the motherboard.
Thank you for your time and answers! I'm new to Linux but eager to learn what all it can do!
