Enrique XIII, príncipe de Reuss-Greiz (en alemán, Heinrich XIII Fürst Reuß zu Greiz; 16 de febrero de 1747 - 29 de enero de 1817) fue príncipe de Reuss-Greiz desde 1800 hasta 1817.

Vida temprana


Enrique XIII nació en Greiz, Reuss, tercer hijo del príncipe Enrique XI de Reuss-Greiz (1722-1800), (hijo del conde Enrique II de Reuss-Obergreiz y la condesa Sofía Carlota de Bothmer) y su esposa, la condesa Conradina de Reuss-Köstritz (1719-1770), (hija del conde Enrique XXIV de Reuss-Köstritz y la baronesa María Leonor Emma de Promnitz-Dittersbach).



Príncipe de Reuss-Greiz


A la muerte de su padre el 28 de junio de 1800, sucedió como príncipe de Reuss-Greiz.


Después de la devastación de Greiz por un incendio en 1802, ordenó reconstruir la ciudad en estilo neoclásico, y trasladó su residencia del Oberes Schloss (Palacio de Arriba) al Unteres Schloss (Palacio de Abajo), para estar más en contacto con el pueblo y la vida social del principado.


Enrique también se distinguió en su servicio militar con Austria como mariscal de campo, hasta el punto de ser considerado uno de los mejores amigos del emperador José II.


Enrique XIII se unió a la Confederación del Rin en 1815 y más tarde fue miembro de la Confederación Germánica. En el Congreso de Viena estuvo envuelto en una disputa territorial con el reino de Sajonia, del que salió victorioso y ganó el dominio de las ciudades de Altgommla y Kühdorf.



Matrimonio


Enrique XIII se casó el 9 de enero de 1786 en Kirchheimbolanden con la princesa Guillermina Luisa de Nassau-Weilburg (1765-1837), cuarta de los hijos y segunda hija del príncipe Carlos Cristián de Nassau-Weilburg, y su esposa, la princesa Carolina de Orange-Nassau.


Tuvieron tres hijos:


  • Príncipe Enrique XVIII de Reuss-Greiz (31 de marzo de 1787 - 31 de marzo de 1787)

  • Príncipe Enrique XIX de Reuss-Greiz (1 de marzo de 1790 - 31 de octubre de 1836), casado en 1822 con la princesa Gasparina de Rohan-Rochefort; tuvieron descendencia.

  • Príncipe Enrique XX de Reuss-Greiz (29 de junio de 1794 - 8 de noviembre de 1859), casado por primera vez en 1834 con la princesa Sofía de Löwenstein-Wertheim-Rosenberg, sin descendencia, la princesa Sofía murió en 1838; casado por segunda vez en 1839 con la landgravina Carolina de Hesse-Homburg, tuvieron descendencia.
