El Reino de Lavo era una entidad política (mandala) en la margen izquierda del río Chao Phraya, en el valle del Alto Chao Phraya desde el fin de la civilización Dvaravati, alrededor del siglo séptimo, hasta 1388. El centro original de la civilización Lavo era en sí Lavo o moderno Lopburi, pero la capital cambiaron hacia el sur hasta Ayodhaya alrededor del siglo 11, donde se mantuvo y se convirtió en el reino de Ayutthaya, según el análisis histórico reciente.



Historia


El legendario primer rey de Lavo, Phraya Kalavarnadit, se decía que había establecido la ciudad alrededor de 450 EC como uno de los Dvaravati ciudades-estado. Kalavarnadit estableció una nueva era llamada la Chulasakaraj, que fue la era utilizado por los siameses y los birmanos hasta el siglo 19.


Jayavarman I o Chenla amplió la influencia Khmer para el valle de Chao Phraya a través de sus campañas de todo el siglo séptimo. Las ciudades Dvaravati que cayeron bajo la hegemonía Khmer convirtieron Lavo, mientras que las ciudades occidentales se libraron de la hegemonía Jemer y formaron el Reino de Suvarnabhumi. Lavo fue el centro desde el cual la autoridad Khmer gobernó sobre Dvaravati Ans.
