Rusia Blanca, alternativamente conocida como Rus Blanca o Rutenia Blanca, es un arcaísmo referido a la parte oriental de la actual Bielorrusia, incluyendo las ciudades de Pólatsk, Vítebsk y Maguilov. Situada en la región histórica de Rutenia, su nombre proviene de la traducción de Bélaya Rus (en bielorruso y ruso: Белая Русь).

En el idioma español, así como en el resto de idiomas, el nombre “Rusia Blanca” pierde una distinción importante entre la Rutenia histórica y Rusia. Parece referir que su territorio representa al de la Federación de Rusia actual, mientras que el nombre realmente es una denominación derivada de la toponimia más antigua Rus o Rutenia. Debido a esto, el uso del nombre “Rusia Blanca” es un asunto delicado en Bielorrusia, y puede ser malinterpretado. Sin embargo, el nombre “Rutenia Blanca” no parece derivar de esa ambigüedad.


Rutenia es un término latinizado de Rus, una región de Europa oriental habitada por los eslavos y por la cuna de la Rus de Kiev, un Estado que perduró desde el siglo IX hasta el siglo XII y que existió en los territorios actuales de Ucrania, Bielorrusia, la mayor parte de la Rusia europea y Polonia oriental.


En español, el uso del término “Rusia Blanca” para referirse a Bielorrusia es obsoleto. En varios otros idiomas, sin embargo, continúan utilizando una traducción literal de la “Rusia Blanca” para referirse a ese país.
