For most Ubuntu distributions and versions try this in the terminal:

gsettings get org.gnome.desktop.screensaver ubuntu-lock-on-suspend
true

If the result is true then set it to false using:

gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.screensaver ubuntu-lock-on-suspend false

Just remember to reset it before your cleaning person comes over for monthly work.

  • @Rookie Don't put in the $ that represents what your display is asking you to enter. I modified the answer to reduce confusion. If this works for you don't forget to accept the answer so others know it works. As a new user you may not be away you can click the check mark beside the answer.

Thank you; thank you; thank you!!!!!!
I was starting to pull my hair out, and at my age, I can't afford to do that for very long! What I find weird is that I used the same downloaded software as another machine, and it only had this problem on the latter one. Well, thanks again! I was getting angry; every time I returned to my system, it would be suspended despite the settings showing that the feature was turned off.
